"We're here for impact"
PedalWASH Project
Our WASH team has just initiated the 'PedalWASH Project'. We have innovated a low-cost, mobile, duo and pedal-operated (touchless) handwasher model. These handwashers are intended to be deployed mainly in rural areas of Uganda, especially among numerous disadvantaged health centers (or hospitals) and schools. SGW aims to contribute towards the achievement of mainly three of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Uganda, including SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality). Notably, the project will be key in curbing the spread of COVID-19 virus, through touchless handwashing.

Kula-Safi Project
SGW participated in an 8 week Net Impact accelerator run in partnership with Eidos Global’s Social Innovation Warehouse. This year’s challenge focused on strengthening smallholder farming resilience and teams were selected based on criteria of impact, innovation and viability. SGW will launch a smartphone app which will connect local markets to farmers growing fresh fruits and vegetables with an Artificial Intelligence based model to predict shelf life of the harvested crops. The SGW team received mentorship and tools to develop ideas into scalable enterprises. The team developed a tested pitch deck at the end of the training in preparation for presentations to potential funders.

Fruit Tree for a Child (Phase-1) Project
Over 400 mango seedlings were donated and planted in four (4) rural deprived schools in Luwero and Wakiso districts in Uganda. Schools collaborated and voluntarily provided land for fruit trees to be planted. Besides, pupils at schools were educated about the issues of food security and climate change. This paved way for hope coming from sustainable fruit trees planted to alleviate hunger in a near future.
